The short version. Halto is a free tool to help you pause before you scroll. Use it for yourself, kindly. It isn’t medical advice, it’s provided as is, and the time-saved numbers are estimates.
These terms
These terms apply when you use Halto: Pause Before You Scroll (“Halto”), made by Workaholic Developers (“we”, “us”). By using Halto you agree to them. If you got Halto from the App Store or Google Play, that store’s terms apply too; on iPhone that includes Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
What Halto is
Halto is a self-help tool. It adds a short, calm pause before apps you choose, and offers focus sessions, wind-down times, insights and widgets. It never locks you out for good: you can always choose to open an app, even if the way through sometimes takes a little longer.
Not medical advice
Halto supports healthier phone habits, but it isn’t a medical device and doesn’t diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, including anxiety, sleep problems or addiction. The breathing pause is a moment of calm, not therapy. If you’re struggling, please talk to a doctor or another qualified professional.
Numbers are estimates
Time saved is an estimate: Halto multiplies your mindful closes by the minutes you’d typically spend in each app (a default you can change). Opens, streaks, insights and any Screen Time figures depend on your phone, its settings and how the pause was set up. Treat them as encouragement, not exact measurements.
How Halto works with your phone
The pause relies on features of iOS and Android that we don’t control: Shortcuts automations, Screen Time, usage access, display over other apps, notifications and battery settings. A system update, a phone maker’s battery settings, or a permission being turned off can stop the pause from appearing. We work to keep up, but we can’t promise that Halto will catch every app open.
Using Halto fairly
- Use Halto on your own phone, for personal, non-commercial use.
- Don’t copy, resell, reverse engineer or misuse the app, or use it to break any law.
- Halto is designed for the person using the phone, not for watching or controlling someone else.
Price
Halto is free at launch, with no ads. If we ever offer paid features, the price and terms will be shown clearly in the app before you pay, and purchases will go through the App Store or Google Play under their terms.
Your data
Halto keeps your data on your phone and sends none of it to us. The Privacy Policy explains what is stored and how to delete it.
Ownership
Halto’s name, mark, design, text and code belong to Workaholic Developers. The fonts are used under the SIL Open Font License. Names of other apps you see in Halto belong to their owners, and Halto isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by them.
Provided as is
We build Halto with care, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don’t guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Workaholic Developers isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for anything that happens because a pause did or didn’t appear, such as a missed message or a lost streak. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be limited.
Changes
We may update these terms when Halto changes. We’ll update the effective date above, and explain any significant change here before it takes effect. If you keep using Halto after that, the new terms apply.
